Introduction
The QA Level 3 Award in Mental Health First Aid in the Workplace (RQF) is a regulated and nationally recognised qualification that has been specifically designed for those who would like to raise their awareness of mental health and develop an understanding on how best to support, reassure and signpost colleagues to professional support. Candidates will develop the knowledge, skills and confidence to actively promote positive mental health within their workplace, making it an ideal qualification for mental health champions/first aiders, human resources, managers, supervisors and team leaders.

Course Overview
The course content includes the following outcomes:
1. Understand Mental Health and its importance – including identifying the impact of poor mental health and common contributory factors.
2. Understand roles and responsibilities in relation to Mental Health in the workplace – including identifying relevant legislation and the duties of the employer and individual.
3. Understand a range of common Mental Health conditions – including the recognition of characteristics of common Mental Health conditions.
4. Know how to implement Mental Health first aid strategies in the workplace – including the key features for an effective action plan and appropriate strategies for supporting colleagues.
5. Understand how employers can provide support to employees – including the implementation of a Mental Health at Work Plan and support available for individuals both locally and nationally.
Certification and Assessment
Assessment is through a multiple choice theory paper completed at the end of day two. Successful completion of the assessment will result in a Qualsafe Awards e-Certificate being issued which is valid for 3 years.
